Where are the phosphate mines in Manatee County?

Phosphate mining occurs on lands zoned for extraction (EX) in the eastern part of the county. Refer to the Land Development Map on the GIS Interactive Maps page of mymanatee.org for properties currently zoned EX. The phosphate minerals were deposited millions of years ago when Florida was flooded by the ocean.
